Just Edit, S.L. announces new versions and product enhancements in the vsn range

Barcelona - 15 July 2005 - JustEdit, S.L. continues to stay at the forefront with its TV automation and digitisation software solution solutions and announces the following updates to its impressive product range:

Multi-format playout supporting MXF and full backup
New generation video servers for Master Control and News Room automation solutions. vsnairnews is the first multi-format playout on the market and has the capacity to playback videos in the same playlist regardless of the video compression format, whether it be DV25/50, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, M-JPEG, WM9 or MXF. Another great innovation is the optional Redundancy Module, with failure detection and automatic switching to the backup video server, bringing complete security without compromising broadcasts.

vsnnews XL supports hundreds of journalists editing lo-res WM9
Unlike other manufacturers’ software, vsnnews XL enables hundreds of journalists to simultaneously edit with frame accuracy, lo-res content including effects (transitions, filters, wipes, multi-layer, etc.). The journalist uses the WM proxy to edit as in a standard NLE. vsnrender farm automatically consolidates these projects with the hi-res content. This is done on dedicated stackable servers which send the output quickly to the vsnairnews playout.

A new version of vsnlegalrec is also now available and is the affordable solution for legal ‘air’ backup based on Windows Media 9. vsnlegalrec digitises in hard disk, entirely automatically, the 24hrs schedule up to 6 months or any designated time lapse. It is self maintained, automatically deleting the previous days to the given timeframe. The vsnlegalplayer license allows users for legal requirements, on any computer in the network, to undertake searches, re-produce any selected segments, create copies and print to tapes. vsnlegalrec also includes video streaming to send broadcasts through the Internet or Intranet. There is also an audio fail detection system which advises the operator in case of loss of signal.

vsncg+ is the much enhanced and more powerful version of the titling and graphics module vsncg. As well as simple and fast operation, vsncg+ also now incorporates impressive additional functionality and at a very competitive price. Features such as manual/automatic broadcast of live data tickers, sports counters, chronometer , SMS applications and generic data from external links (XML files, ODBC, METAR files, SMS, RSS feeds). It also offers unlimited real-time layers, with automatic and simultaneous 2D and 3D animation. It is controllable through TCP/IP by third party applications and customization of data imports is available through SDK.

vsnmatic is the Master Control Room playout and automation system. Version 3.0 just released, using vsnmatic remote allows multiple users to access and modify the playlist remotely and in real-time. Any modifications are reflected in the shared playlist and viewable by any user on the system. Video clip metadata can be used by the CG to display the next clip in the vsnmatic playlist to be broadcast. Rundowns can be imported and exported in XML and Excel to integrate with traffic programmes from third parties. vsnmatic has a multi-language GUI and supports Unicode. During ingest, it also supports MXF (DV and IMX) files. The automatic ingest system vsnautorec now supports MXF files to be used with XDCAM or P2 for a tapeless environment.

This new version now features support for digital media such as near-line, DVD libraries, detachable disks and Blue-ray discs as well as the new SAIT drives from Sony and SuperAIT tape libraries with up to 500GB without compression which means 40 hours in DV25 on each tape. Transferring material to local NLEs through these new media formats is many times faster than real-time, and there is no loss in quality. Archived material is an identical copy of the original.
